Tai Chi for Arthritis

In 1997, Dr. Paul Lam, a family physician in Sydney and Tai Chi master, led a team of Tai Chi and medical specialists to create a unique Tai Chi program targeting arthritis. Medical studies have shown the program relieves pain in those dealing with arthritis and also improves their quality of lives.  Although particularly effective for arthritis, it is also fit for improving one’s health, as well as preventing falls; it can help improve one’s quality of life. 

The Tai Chi for Arthritis program is based on Sun style Tai Chi.  In addition to the fundamental set of 12 movements of Tai Chi, this particular program includes warm-up, cool-down and Qigong breathing exercises.  The program is easy, enjoyable and safe for one’s with arthritis to learn.  

Tai Chi for Osteoporosis

Tai Chi for Osteoporosis is a program designed by Dr. Paul Lam and his medical and Tai Chi colleagues specifically for individuals with Osteoporosis.   The program includes warm-up, cool-down, special precautions and a set of 8 forms derived from Yang and Sun style Tai Chi.  This specific program helps strengthen bones, improve balance and improve relaxation.  It is easy-to-learn, safe and effective for those living with Osteoporosis.

Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance

Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance includes 8 Tai Chi forms that emphasize weight shifting, postural alignment and coordinated movements.  Synchronized breathing aligned with Tai Chi movements is integrated into the movement routine.  One-hour classes are held twice a week for 12 weeks.
